June 2015 Newsletter
The year is halfway gone and winter is here!
Halfway House. We are trying different measures to try get the Winter afternoon fields in before dark, one being a “grab and go”. Anyone not adhering to this and sitting down to eat forfeit their place on the next Tee Box.
We have received a number of complaints AND numerous compliments concerning Menus , pricing etc – while some complain others compliment on the food and prices being of the best value for money in Pretoria! The Committee would appreciate suggestions, especially concerning the Menu offered.
We hope you noticed the “revamp” of the Halfway House to improve Hygiene and the appearance...
Bar Service. We hope the service is again up to the member’s standard – we continue to have the odd staff “hurdles” so please bear with us. We can assure all members that our prices are all still very competitive with other Pretoria Clubs. We need to bring to the attention of all members and visitors that fraternising with staff members is strictly prohibited.
Ruling around the Meercat areas - Rule 25-1c. Ball in Abnormal Ground Condition Not Found: It is a question of fact whether a ball that has not been found after having been struck toward an abnormal ground condition is in such a condition. In order to apply this Rule, it must be known or virtually certain that the ball is in the abnormal ground condition. In the absence of such knowledge or certainty, the player must proceed under Rule 27-1.
If it is known or virtually certain that a ball that has not been found is in an abnormal ground condition, the player may take relief under this Rule. If he elects to do so, the spot where the ball last crossed the outermost limits of the abnormal ground condition must be determined and, for the purpose of applying this Rule, the ball is deemed to lie at this spot and the player must proceed.
Rule 27-1 - Stroke and Distance; Ball Out of Bounds; Ball Not Found Within Five Minutes Exception: If it is known or virtually certain that the original ball, that has not been found, has been moved by an outside agency (Rule 18-1), is in an obstruction (Rule 24-3), is in an abnormal ground condition (Rule 25-1) or is in a water hazard (Rule 26-1), the player may proceed under the applicable Rule.
Pro Shop. Negotiations are underway with the current contractors for the contract renewal. We would like to bring to the attention of all members and visitors that Feedback forms are available at the Pro Shop entrance and in fact request they complete them, without feedback we find it difficult to determine the requirements and expectations.Watch this space for the all “new” Links Pro Shop launch!
