July 2015 Newsletter
There are apparently STILL members NOT receiving the Newsletter via e mail?
Halfway House. Appeals for Menu suggestions delivered very little so we presume most members and visitors are now happy? The Grab and Go is still in operation and we thank all – it really has had an effect on the late players completing their round.
Bar Service. Thanks to the General Manager we have been running a couple of specials. For members and guests – all advertised .
Pro Shop. I’m sure you have all noticed the improvements in the Pro Shop. We appeal to our members plus visitors to support them! Well done Werner and your team. Werner has arranged a Pro Am at SERVICES on the 5th October, more details later.
Relief from Divots and mud on ball. With the “no placing rule” still in force, SGC have adopted a Local rule – “Free drop one club length from divot on fairway in play” and, in the event of mud on ball, “Lift, clean and drop within one club length – fairway in play”. We appeal to ALL players to please carry and use Sand Bags.
Course Maintenance. The Course will be closed on the 31st of August and 1st September for “Spring Treatment”
Hole in one.Congratulations to C Lombard who “aced” the 6th hole on 11 July!
HACKERS. It has come to the EXCOM’s attention that members no longer frequent the evening Hackers Monthly Medal evening function in Hackers. Happy Hour will be available to players at the Lapa from 17h00 to 18h00 on Saturdays. Should members still want food served in Hackers, kindly arrange with the Caterers beforehand?
Washing of Cars.In the past we allowed Caddies to wash cars in the parking area toupplement their income, we regrettably had to stop this due to a number of incidents. Please do not hire anyone to wash cars on the premises.
The V& A Waterfront Mercedes-Benz Golf Hall of Fame museum has recently been upgraded, however, the level of visitors is very poor. This is probably because the majority of golfers are unaware that it has opened, and the fact that in bad weather everyone stays within the confimes of the Waterfront retail centre. We are offering all golf visitors to the Mercedes-Benz Hall of Fame golf museum a special entry fee of R10 (normally R65) from 01 August until 15 September on display of their membership card.
Score Recording Computer in Mens changeroom. Please note that we are experiencing problems with this link. Please record your scores in the Pro Shop until further nortice.
A BIG thank you to all members, visitors and guests for their continued support to the club !
